This Week in DEI – “We Were There – The Black Presence in Renaissance Europe" (November 25, 2020)
In “We Were There”, Harlie Des Roches will speak to her experiences as a Black reenactor and her research on the Black presence in Renaissance Europe. She’ll be reading a piece that she recently wrote called “We Were There” and answering questions afterwards.
Baroness Sarafina Sinclair is a Laurel and Pelican living in the Midrealm. Harlie Des Roches is a 43-year-old part-time designer/tailor and living historian from Chicagoland (which totally sounds like an amusement park). When not sewing or researching, she enjoys Star Trek and vintage superhero cartoons. She lives with her family and fabric hoard in the northwest burbs. She will be featured on the cover of the newest book from the Tudor Tailor, called The Typical Tudor, as well as a multiple-page spread to model a dress and coat that she hand-sewed especially for the project.
