Revealed: Top Four Wine and Champagne Brands Are All Owned by the Same Group

Favourite for special occasions, the top four most valuable wine and champagne brands in 2024 , all belong to the same luxury products group, a new report says.

The new report from Brand Finance, a leading brand valuation consultancy, highlights how LVMH, who also owns Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, got to the top of the list valuable brands.

Moët & Chandon (brand value up 9% to USD1.4 billion) retained its position in the top spot, while Chandon lost 1% in value to USD1 billion. Veuve Clicquot brand value went up 2% to USD959.2 million). And Dom Pérignon saw the most significant brand value increase, up 7% to USD799.8 million.

“The wine industry is experiencing a significant transformation as both producers and consumers become more environmentally conscious. Companies adopting practices like reducing pesticide use, recycling water, and ensuring fair treatment for vineyard workers are becoming increasingly appealing to consumers. Consequently, many producers are revamping their practices to better protect the environment and safeguard their vines against climate extremes. Transparent communication of these efforts is likely to be a crucial component to earning consumer trust, preference, and ultimately, brand success in the coming years,” says Henry Farr, Director at Brand Finance.

Countries that Drink the Most Champagne

Three countries around the world don’t hold back when it comes to drinking the most champagne: France, The UK and the United States – with Japan and Germany following very close. The United States and the UK are particularly fond of the exclusive sparkling wine from the Champagne region, having imported 33.7 and 28.1 million 750 milliliter bottles in 2022, respectively. However, Global Champagne shipments fell by around 8% in 2023 to 299 million bottles. The change marks a return to 2019 levels and continuing a gradual, long-term shift towards export markets, according to a report released by the Comité Champagne.
