Elisabeth Terland: Man Utd hopeful of signing Brighton forward on free transfer

Manchester United are hopeful of signing Brighton forward Elisabeth Terland on a free transfer.

Terland, 22, was Brighton’s top-scorer last season, registering 15 times in 28 appearances across all competitions, including the opener in a 2-2 draw against United in the Women’s Super League (WSL).

The Norway international is out of contract this summer and United hope to complete a deal before the next international break.

United are believed to have several targets lined up, with a number of high-profile players set to leave the club.

Mary Earps is set to join Paris St-Germain after turning down a contract offer from United which they felt was reflective of her pedigree in the WSL.

United were in lengthy negotiations with Earps, 31, for several months and offered her terms which they believed matched her expectations.

Lucia Garcia, 25, is set to join Mexican champions Monterey this summer.

Spain forward Garcia scored twice as United beat Tottenham 4-0 in the Women’s FA Cup final in May, helping the club to win the competition for the first time.

There is also a chance captain Katie Zelem, who is out of contract at the end of this month, could also depart, although a decision has yet to be made on that.
