County Championship: Derbyshire beat Glamorgan for first County Ground win in 1,803 days
Derbyshire captain David Lloyd told BBC Sport Wales:
“It’s been over 1,000 days since our last four day win (at Derby) so it’s very pleasing for the lads who’ve been here that time and for the fans who follow us home and away, everyone’s really happy to get that first (Championship) win for a while. To get that monkey off our back is very important.
“The way our bowlers have gone about their work has been very impressive going back to Zak (Chappell) on the first morning.
“I was an off-spinner growing up then went to seam, but I’ve got a bad knee so I’ve been bowling off-spin and it’s coming out ok, it offers more for the team.
“The one I bowled to Chris (Cooke), I’m not sure I’ll bowl that again especially since we grew up together for Glamorgan, best friends, and that was a special wicket, but Jack Morley had a great effort as well.”
Glamorgan coach Grant Bradburn told BBC Sport Wales:
“We were soundly beaten by a very good Derbyshire performance, Zak Chappell was outstanding. We got ourselves behind the game in the first hour, 32 for six, and that was too much to come back from.
“We showed glimpses (on day three) of getting back to some sort of parity and couldn’t quite clinch those moments as Derbyshire bowled well in the afternoon too.
“Undoubtedly there’s a lot of things that didn’t go our way including the toss, and some critical decisions, but that’s Mother Cricket.
“We’re demanding significant performances (from second team players) to make the first team, we’ve got a number of players tapping at the door, but I want them to knock it down.”
