Career expo to provide youth with knowledge

Kwa-Thema – Khwezi Malothe is organising a youth career expo event to be held at the Kwa-Thema Seventh Day Adventist Church on November 3.

He said the expo aims to help the youth to be well equipped with the tools that will help them know what to study after Grade 12 through using each opportunity that comes their way.

Malothe said the event targets secondary learners.

“Life after matric is challenging. Especially when you do not know how to apply for bursaries or get to where you envision yourself when you have not obtained the required application point score (APS).

“My purpose is to meet the youth halfway through showing them the silver lining by inviting experts from different fields to share how their journey to success was and what is required from the children to be like them,” he said.

He said the expo’s aim is to bring the raw truth to youth, saying permanent things take time and temporary things do not last long.

“Another aim is to provide clarity to the youth based on what they want to be in life and how they can go about reaching their goals.

“We want to ensure that they stay motivated and inspired, introduce them to new areas of professional interest, and help them focus on improving their weaknesses before enhancing their strengths,” Malothe added.

He said SID Media will be on site to teach about photography, videography, and anything about media.

“SID Media is a media and communication Christian production house and is a subsidiary of the Southern African- Indian Ocean division of the Seventh Day Adventist Church,” he said,

He mentioned that Ekurhuleni East College will share with the youth the careers that they offer.

“The event will help individuals to assess the long-term implications of their career choices. Attendees are encouraged to bring along a pen and paper.”
