BMW Championship 2024: Adam Scott leads after second-round 63

Australia’s Adam Scott carded a brilliant nine-under-par 63 to lead the BMW Championship at the halfway stage.

The 2013 Masters champion has not won on the PGA Tour since 2020 but is three shots clear of first-round leader Keegan Bradley at Castle Pines, near Denver.

Scott hit nine birdies – four on the front nine and five on the back – in a blemish-free second round to reach 13 under overall.

Bradley, who will captain the United States at the 2025 Ryder Cup, made five birdies and looked set for another bogey-free round, only to drop a shot on the last in his 68.

Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg is up to third on nine under after matching Scott for the best round of the day.

The 24-year-old made eight birdies and eagled the 14th, more than making up for his solitary bogey on the third.

Aberg’s compatriot Alex Noren is a further shot back in fourth after a four-under-par 68.

Meanwhile, England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy are part of an eight-strong group tied for 15th on three under.

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama was just a shot off the lead after the first round but withdrew before his second because of lower back pain.
