ASADA FEST BRINGS THE SPICE TO THE ARTS DISTRICT

This weekend ASADA FEST took over the Arts District with a culinary event like no other, paying homage to the 40-year legacy of “Los Meros Meros” de la Carne Asada Chefs who are celebrated for their exceptional culinary skills and unique contributions to the gastronomic world.

The event featured a range of restaurants and chefs from all over California, including a stage of live performers and mariachi band, lucha libre matches, immersive photo experiences, Mexican wine tasting experiences, merch store and more.

Some of the biggest chef’s in attendance included:

Javier Plascencia: A trailblazer in Baja Med cuisine, Javier has helped define Baja California’s Michelin Guide-recognized food scene for the last 20 years.

Claudette Zepeda: Hailing from San Diego, Claudette is a Top Chef alum known for her bold flavors and creative dishes that reflect her rich cultural heritage.

RobeGrill: A viral sensation from Hermosillo, Sonora, known for his “Que Chille” social media fame, brings a vibrant and authentic Sonoran flavor to the festival.

Daniel Castillo of Heritage Barbecue: A self-made California institution in San Juan Capistrano, known for its hours-long lines and melt-in-your-mouth Chicano-style smoked meats.

Yesenia Rios: From Tijuana’s prestigious Culinary Arts School.

Nereida Vejar: Sonora’s most celebrated Cocinera Tradicional, specializing in butchering whole cows for asada, as seen on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles.

ASADA FEST was presented by Northgate Gonzalez Market, will showcase sizzling meat on mesquite grills, drinks from various regions of Mexico, vibrant Banda music, and an array of mouth-watering dishes that highlight the rich culinary traditions of Mexican cuisine!
