‘Agatha All Along’ Revealed To Have Shocking Budget Compared To Other MCU Disney Plus Series

Did Agatha All Along break the Disney Plus curse? The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest series is making waves thanks to a new report regarding the project’s budget.

Disney Plus has often been lambasted for the ludicrous budget it provides to even the most obscure of shows, especially when it comes to fandoms like the MCU or Star Wars. With She-Hulk: Attorney At Law reportedly having a staggeringly high budget of $225 million, many fans expected Agatha All Along to follow suit, especially given how much VFX would be required to bring the magic of a coven of witches to life.

However, it seems Disney Plus’ savior was Agatha All Along. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series has a “significantly” lower budget than any MCU series before it. This puts it lower than Echo, which previously held the title for lowest budget at $30 million for a season. And with the show pulling 9.3 million viewers for its premiere, it’s not a stretch to say that the witches of Westview have managed to conjure up a surprising hit for the streamer.

How Agatha All Along Found Its Groove

The success of Agatha All Along may come as a surprise to those who only follow the reviews, as the Disney Plus series initially sat at a relatively mixed reception on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the score rose to the 80s with both critics and fans once the initial backlash against the show died down, with many praising the series for its horror-focused atmosphere and practical sets (two elements that were certainly large factors in keeping the show’s budget as low as it is).

And while Agatha All Along did receive a certain level of backlash online for casting Joe Locke as the “Teen” presumed to be Billy Kaplan, the internet has gone on to embrace the show in a similar way to its predecessor Wandavision. The Disney Plus series has been praised for being one of the most unabashedly LGBTQ+ friendly projects in the entirety of the MCU, with stellar performances from both Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza as presumed-to-be former lovers.
