Adam Scott Meets New Lumon Employees

Welcome back to Lumon.

After nearly three years, “Severance” is back with the first trailer for its highly anticipated Season 2, debuting on Apple TV+ on Jan. 17.

In the trailer, Adam Scott’s Mark S. returns to the office after exposing his “innie” to the outside world and learning that his wife (who he thought died in a car accident) is actually alive, and working at Lumon as the wellness counselor Ms. Casey.

After frantically dashing down those stark-white hallways, Mark enters his workspace to find three unfamiliar Lumon employees — sitting in the desks formerly occupied by Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry). His delightfully creepy manager Milchick (Tramell Tillman) welcomes him back to the office with balloons adorned with Mark’s face.

“Severance” follows a group of employees at a mysterious corporation whose work lives and home lives have been “severed” via an experimental procedure. The first season ended on an excruciatingly good cliffhanger, making the wait between seasons even more unbearable.

The first season of the sci-fi workplace thriller premiered in February 2022, and filming on the second season was beleaguered by the Hollywood strikes and reported creative disputes. Apple TV+ dropped a teaser for the 10-episode second season in July.

The cast also includes Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock and Michael Chernus. And joining the ensemble for Season 2 are Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, John Noble, Ólafur Darri and Sarah Bock.

“Severance” is created by Dan Erickson, who executive produces with director Ben Stiller, Scott, Mark Friedman, Nicky Weinstock, Jackie Cohn, Caroline Baron, Sam Donovan and Richie Schwartz. Arquette is a producer on Season 2, and Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content) is the studio.

Turturro teased the upcoming episodes of “Severance” with Variety in September, saying, “I think it’ll be a really interesting second season. We are delving into the unknown that the audience is waiting for, and then doing it incrementally.”

Stiller added, “It’s taken a long time. I hope it’s good. You know, people are just wanting something to live up to what they’ve experienced and have it hopefully not let them down. And so, I don’t know, All you all you can do is try to do what you think is good.”
