Is Armor Wars officially canned? A new rumor suggests the film’s plot may be recycled for the upcoming Vision series on Disney Plus.
Armor Wars stands at an anomaly for Marvel Studios. The series was announced as one of the earliest projects coming post-Avengers: Endgame, and was set to focus on Don Cheadles’ War Machine. the film has still yet to see the light of day. The rumor mill suggested that the project would feature the return of familiar faces like James Spader’s Ultron, as well as Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer.
Yet as the years went by, news about Armor Wars become more and more sparse. Fans were assured that Marvel was still developing the series, before it then shifted to being a movie. Official news about the project hasn’t been heard in two years, and even rumors dried up this past February. And a new rumor may explain what happened to the studios’ VISION for the film.
How Vision Will Secretly Adapt Armor Wars
A new rumor by Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus states that Marvel Studios has decided to “repurpose” a lot of the plot points from Armor Wars into the upcoming Vision series. This would line up about the prior reports about the project’s plot, with James Spader confirmed to return as Ultron for the upcoming Disney Plus show.
It’s unclear how extensively Marvel will be taking from Armor Wars to develop Vision. It’s also unclear if this means Armor Wars is officially cancelled, or will simply be reworked to better fit the studio’s current vision for their universe. Either way, it’s good that the story elements won’t go to waste on a project that has simply been spinning its wheels for half a decade.
