‘Superman’ Set Video Reveals Rehearsal For Villain Battle

Is Superman about to face off against his greatest villain yet? A new set video seems to suggest the production will be filming a fight scene in the near future.

Production on Superman continues to truck on as more members of the cast arrive in Cleveland. While previous shoots have been on the city streets, it seems James Gunn will be taking production inside of a stadium. Set video from the nearby Progressive Field reveals a two stuntmen seemingly practicing a showdown between the Man of Steel and an unknown villain.

Given Superman will be shooting multiple scenes in the stadium, it’s likely James Gunn will be bulk filming all of the project’s main flight scenes in this area. However, this set video does confirm at least one fight against a villain will be included in that block. The only question remains is what villain could be facing off against the Man of Steel.

Who’s Superman’s Mystery Villain?

After seeing this set video, most fans immediately thought of Ultraman. The doppleganger has been heavily speculated to be the main villain of Superman. However, there has also been speculation that other characters like Ulysses could be taking up the mantle. Both characters could survive being dragged across a field by Superman, which does at least narrow the field a bit.

However, it’s also possible the fight scene being practiced in this set video belongs to a minor villain. James Gunn is no stranger to using smaller antagonists in the first act of a story. This does narrow the scope a tad bit, as only a few Superman villains are minor enough to not be saved as the main antagonist for a futre project. This includes familiar faces such as Solomon Grundy, Metallo, and even Nuclear Man!

Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
