Rangers ‘frustrated’ by Sunday 20:00 kick-off against St Johnstone

“Playing on the Saturday is not feasible given our match with Lyon takes place on the Thursday evening, while the Monday evening is also not possible with that falling in the international window,” Rangers said on their website.

“The club is fully cognisant of the inconvenience this will cause to many of our supporters and we share in your frustration at this situation.”

The match will be shown live on television, while Rangers say they will continue to engage with public transport providers and Glasgow City Council in planning for the unusual kick-off time.

It means that all three Premiership fixtures that day will start at different times.

Ross County host Celtic at 12:00 for live television coverage, while Aberdeen entertain Conference League qualifiers Heart of Midlothian at 15:00.

Hibernian’s visit to Ibrox has also been moved because of Rangers’ Europa League participation, with the match now scheduled for a 12:00 kick-off on Sunday, 29 September.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ trip to face St Johnstone has also been put back a day until Sunday, 1 December, while the Perth side’s trip to face Hearts will now be on Sunday, 22 December, with both kick-off times yet to be confirmed.
