Ollie Robinson’s brilliance helped Sussex beat Yorkshire by 21 runs in a dramatic County Championship Division Two encounter.
Yorkshire, who are still looking for their first win, appeared to be cruising to their winning target of 183 at 158-6, with just 25 runs needed and opener Adam Lyth in total control.
But England bowler Robinson turned the game on its head by taking three wickets without giving up a run
He had Lyth caught behind for 73 and, in his next over, saw Jordan Thompson brilliantly taken by Jack Carson at long leg before bowling Dominic Leech for a duck.
Yorkshire managed just three more runs before Ben Coad, batting with an injured back, was run out by Fynn Hudson-Prentice as Sussex secured a narrow victory.
Yorkshire were favourites to win this match from the first morning, when they put in the championship leaders on a grassy pitch and bowled them out for 150.
And they were left with a victory target of 183 after Sussex lost their last three wickets in 44 minutes for the addition of 33 runs.
Tom Alsop added just nine to his 77 overnight before he attempted to cut a delivery by George Hill, but instead chopped it to third slip.
And in the next over Robinson, who had been struck on the right arm in the course of some short stuff from Jordan Thompson, lost two of his stumps as he attempted to heave Hill over mid-wicket.
Yorkshire slipped to 45-4 at lunch after Joe Root and George Hill were dismissed in the last two overs of the session.
James Wharton got an inside edge to one from Sean Hunt and the ball dislodged his leg bail to make it 76-5.
Lyth led the recovery in the company of Jonathan Tattersall, but Carson had the latter, caught sweeping at backward square-leg for 18 and then Robinson took over.
